About the tides at General Dynamics Pier

General Dynamics Pier has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The average range is about 4.4 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 4.8 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 5.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 4.7 ft.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1998 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Back River Reservoir, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 4 h 8 m later. For tidal currents, see Moreland, 0.5 n.mi. below.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
