About the tides at Eel Point

Eel Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Boston, Boston Harbor. On a typical day the water moves about 2.1 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.8 ft on November 26 and bottom out at −0.4 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Boston, Boston Harbor, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Nantucket, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 21 min later. For tidal currents, see Eel Pt., Nantucket I. 2.5 miles NE of.

Predictions are based on Boston, Boston Harbor.
