About the tides at Muskeget Island
Muskeget Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Boston, Boston Harbor. The mean range is small, about 1.9 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.5 ft on November 26, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on January 23.
Muskeget Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Boston, Boston Harbor: highs come about 25 min and lows about 15 min later than there.
