About the tides at Muskeget Island

Muskeget Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Boston. The mean range is small, about 1.9 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 2.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.8 ft.

Muskeget Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Boston: highs come about 25 min and lows about 15 min later than there.
