About the tides at Wasque Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.1 ft. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.4 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 1.0 ft, on Sunday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Newport, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Edgartown, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 7 m later. For tidal currents, see Muskeget Channel.

Predictions are based on Newport.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
