About the tides at Explorer Bay

Explorer Bay has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Adak Island, Sweeper Cove. On a typical day the water moves about 3.6 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.4 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 2.0 ft, on October 23. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.9 ft on December 23 and bottom out at −2.2 ft on June 6.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Adak Island, Sweeper Cove, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Sagchudak Island, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 17 m later.

Predictions are based on Adak Island, Sweeper Cove.
