About the tides at Gooseneck Point

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at bridge, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. On a typical day the water moves about 2.5 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.3 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.5 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1982 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Long Branch Reach, 1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Seabright Bridge, Shrewsbury River.

Predictions are based on Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
