About the tides at Long Branch (fishing pier)
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.6 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The average range is about 4.4 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 4.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 5.6 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 2.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.0 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.3 ft on January 23.
