About the tides at Gravelly Point
Gravelly Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. Gravelly Point sees a mean range of about 17.9 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 18.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 19.6 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 15.0 ft, on Monday.
