About the tides at Great Shoals Light

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The average range is about 2.2 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Maryland stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.3 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.3 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 23.
