About the tides at Gulf Beach

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Gulf Beach, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. With a mean range of about 6.3 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.9 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.6 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 5.5 ft, on Sunday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Bridgeport, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1987 to 1988 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Milford Harbor, 1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Charles Island, 0.8 mile SSE of.

Predictions are based on Bridgeport.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
