About the tides at Isle Au Haut
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Thorofare, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay. With a mean range of about 8.7 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 12.2 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 6.4 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 11.5 ft on August 4 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Stonington, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 9 min later. For tidal currents, see Isle au Haut, 0.8 mile E of Rich's Pt.
Predictions are based on Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay.
