About the tides at Port Graham

Port Graham has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet. Port Graham sees a mean range of about 14.5 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 16.9 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 21.4 ft on January 23 and bottom out at −5.4 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 2009 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Seldovia, 7 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min later.
