About the tides at Lancaster Cove

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. Lancaster Cove sees a mean range of about 12.5 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 18.7 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 9.9 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ketchikan, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
