About the tides at Nehenta Bay
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Gravina Island, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows. Nehenta Bay sees a mean range of about 12.0 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 18.2 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 5.2 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 18.1 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.2 ft on July 5.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Metlakatla, 9 mi away. For tidal currents, see Point McCartey Light.
Predictions are based on Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows.
