About the tides at Little Harbor
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.2 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 2.0 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 0.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.0 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −0.3 ft on January 23.
Little Harbor is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport, Narragansett Bay: highs come about 32 min and lows about 141 min later than there. The nearest other station is Oceanographic Institution, 0.4 mi away. For tidal currents, see Juniper Point.
Predictions are based on Newport, Narragansett Bay.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
