About the tides at Lower Topsaw Landing

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Pee Dee River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.4 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.2 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.4 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −0.8 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1981 to 1982 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Little Bull Creek entrance, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 49 min earlier.

Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
