About the tides at Main Key
Main Key has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut. Water here rises and falls only about 0.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 0.6 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 0.1 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 0.6 ft on September 29 and bottom out at −0.3 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Manatee Creek, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later.
Predictions are based on Miami Beach, Government Cut.
