About the tides at Montauk Harbor entrance

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at NEW LONDON, State Pier. Water here rises and falls only about 1.8 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.4 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on Monday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at NEW LONDON, State Pier, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Lake Montauk, 0.1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Shagwong Reef & Cerberus Shoal, between.

Predictions are based on NEW LONDON, State Pier.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
