About the tides at Neds Creek
Neds Creek has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. On a typical day the water moves about 2.6 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most New York stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.5 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.7 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.8 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Cuba Island, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 18 min later. For tidal currents, see Jones Inlet.
Predictions are based on Sandy Hook.
