About the tides at Freeport
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.4 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The average range is about 2.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 3.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 2.9 ft.
Freeport is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 37 min and lows about 55 min later than there. The nearest other station is Baldwin, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 26 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Jones Inlet.
Predictions are based on Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
