About the tides at Saltery Point

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka. Saltery Point sees a mean range of about 10.3 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.7 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 8.4 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sitka, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Hydaburg, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 7 min later. For tidal currents, see Sukkwan Narrows.

Predictions are based on Sitka.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
