About the tides at Oak Bluffs

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Oak Bluffs, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The mean range is small, about 1.6 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 2.3 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.4 ft.

Oak Bluffs is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport: highs come about 239 min and lows about 227 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 1994 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Vineyard Haven, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 34 min earlier.
