About the tides at Parker Run

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at upper end, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. On a typical day the water moves about 2.1 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.7 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 1.4 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.9 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.6 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is West Creek, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later. For tidal currents, see Manahawkin Drawbridge.

Predictions are based on Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock.
