About the tides at Port Walter
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound. The range is large, about 8.9 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 13.3 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 4.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 14.1 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −3.1 ft on July 5.
Port Walter is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound: highs come about 4 min and lows about 13 min later than there. The nearest other station is Port Alexander, 10 mi away. For tidal currents, see Port Walter Light, 3 miles east of.
Predictions are based on Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound.
