About the tides at Quicks Hole
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Quick's Hole, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay. The average range is about 3.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.9 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 23.
Quicks Hole is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport, Narragansett Bay: highs come about 8 min and lows about 8 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 2004 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Penikese Island, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min later. For tidal currents, see North end.
Predictions are based on Newport, Narragansett Bay.
