About the tides at Snipe Keys, Snipe Point
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.9 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The average range is about 2.3 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.8 ft. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 3.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 20, when the range shrinks to 2.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.3 ft on October 29, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 21.
Snipe Keys, Snipe Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 135 min and lows about 213 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1973 to 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Snipe Keys, Middle Narrows, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 29 m later.
