About the tides at Squibnocket Point
Squibnocket Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay. On a typical day the water moves about 2.8 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.7 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 1.6 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.1 ft on September 2 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Menemsha Harbor, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 2 m later. For tidal currents, see Gay Head, 3 miles northeast of.
Predictions are based on Newport, Narragansett Bay.
