About the tides at Nomans Land
Nomans Land has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Newport, Narragansett Bay. The average range is about 2.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.2 ft on September 2, and the lowest is −0.7 ft on January 23.
Nomans Land is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport, Narragansett Bay: highs come about 19 min earlier and lows about 18 min later than there. The nearest other station is Squibnocket Point, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 26 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Gay Head, 1.5 miles northwest of.
Predictions are based on Newport, Narragansett Bay.
