About the tides at Takoma Cove

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Seward, Resurrection Bay. With a mean range of about 9.5 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 16.7 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 6.4 ft, on Friday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.8 ft on November 25 and bottom out at −3.3 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seward, Resurrection Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Nuka Passage, 15 mi away, where high tide comes about 12 min earlier.
