About the tides at Taku Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau. Taku Point sees a mean range of about 13.9 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 20.8 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 10.9 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Juneau, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1937 to 2024 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Greely Point, 13 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min earlier.
