About the tides at William Henry Bay

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. William Henry Bay sees a mean range of about 12.6 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 19.4 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.5 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1922 to 1984 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Cove Point, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min earlier.
