About the tides at Jones Inlet (Point Lookout)
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Point Lookout, Jones Inlet, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. The average range is about 3.4 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 4.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 2.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.9 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 23.
Jones Inlet (Point Lookout) is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook: highs come about 20 min and lows about 25 min earlier than there.
