About the tides at Gambier Bay (cannery wharf)
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Cannery Wharf, Gambier Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. The tide range here is very large, about 12.6 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 21.2 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 5.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 18.3 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −4.3 ft on July 5.
Gambier Bay (cannery wharf) is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass: highs come about 1 min and lows about 1 min earlier than there.
