About the tides at Cannery Cove

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Pybus Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. Cannery Cove sees a mean range of about 11.8 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 20.3 ft, comes on October 26, and the smallest, 5.0 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 17.9 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.2 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1925 to 1996 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Eliza Harbor, 10 mi away.
