About the tides at Garnet Point
Garnet Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The tide range here is very large, about 19.2 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 20.2 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 22.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 17.3 ft.
