About the tides at New Haven Harbor
New Haven Harbor has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. With a mean range of about 6.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.5 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 5.5 ft, on Sunday.
