About the tides at Quicks Hole
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 3.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Massachusetts stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.3 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 4.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 3.2 ft.
Quicks Hole is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Newport: highs come about 8 min and lows about 8 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 2004 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Penikese Island, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later.
