About the tides at Sandy Point, Lummi Bay
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet. With a mean range of about 5.6 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.0 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 9.7 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 5.2 ft, on Saturday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 10.5 ft on December 26 and bottom out at −3.7 ft on July 4.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1974 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gooseberry Point, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min earlier.
