About the tides at Takli Island

Takli Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay. The tide range here is very large, about 10.9 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 13.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 17.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 8.5 ft.

Takli Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay: highs come about 9 min earlier and lows about 3 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Aguchik Island, 17 mi away.

Predictions are based on SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay.
