About the tides at Kukak
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.1 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet. The tide range here is very large, about 11.0 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 16.5 ft on January 23, and the lowest is −4.0 ft on July 5.
Kukak is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Seldovia, Cook Inlet: highs come about 8 min earlier and lows about 5 min later than there. The nearest other station is Aguchik Island, 7 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min later. For tidal currents, see Kukak Bay, Shelikof Strait.
Predictions are based on Seldovia, Cook Inlet.
