About the tides at Tonki Bay

Tonki Bay has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Kodiak Island, Womens Bay. With a mean range of about 8.7 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 12.6 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 6.8 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 13.7 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.3 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Kodiak Island, Womens Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1932 to 1965 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Seal Bay, 7 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later. For tidal currents, see Tonki Cape, east of.

Predictions are based on Kodiak Island, Womens Bay.
