About the tides at Ushagat Island

Ushagat Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay. The tide range here is very large, about 11.6 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 17.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 9.6 ft.

Ushagat Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay: highs come about 8 min and lows about 4 min earlier than there.
