About the tides at Ushagat Island

Ushagat Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay. The tide range here is very large, about 11.6 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 17.8 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 6.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 17.0 ft on January 23, and the lowest is −4.1 ft on July 5.

Ushagat Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay: highs come about 8 min and lows about 4 min earlier than there.
