About the tides at View Cove

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka. View Cove sees a mean range of about 10.3 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.7 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 8.4 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sitka, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Sea Otter Harbor, 7 mi away. For tidal currents, see McFarland Islands.
