About the tides at View Cove

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound. View Cove sees a mean range of about 10.4 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.7 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 5.7 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.4 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.2 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Sea Otter Harbor, 7 mi away. For tidal currents, see McFarland Islands.
