About the tides at Ship Harbor

Ship Harbor has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet. On a typical day the water moves about 4.8 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Washington stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 8.7 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 2.2 ft, tomorrow. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 9.3 ft on December 26 and bottom out at −3.7 ft on July 4.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Anacortes, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Burrows Pass.

Predictions are based on Port Townsend, Admiralty Inlet.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
